27 new cases, 2 deaths reported

Imphal, January 05 2022:
The State reported 27 new COVID-19 cases and 2 new Covid fatalities during the last 24 hours.
This is a slight decrease from the 35 cases reported on January 4 .
The 27 cases including 8 from CAPF were detected out of 1962 samples tested at various testing centres taking the daily positivity rate to 1.4 percent, as per a statement from COVID-19 Common Control Room.
The 19 positive cases from amongsty the civilians were reported from Imphal East (2), Imphal West (9), Ukhrul (1), Jiribam (1), Chandel (1) and Churachandpur (5) .
The two fatalities, one each from Imphal West and Kakching, had co-morbidities.
One had already received both the doses of COVID-19 vaccine while the other was not vaccinated.
With these two fatalities, the cumulative death toll of the State stands at 2008 .
14 individuals including 2 from home isolation, 1 from RIMS, 5 from JNIMS and 6 from CCCs were discharged today.
The recovery rate stands at 98.19 percent as of today.
With the addition of the 27 new cases (including 8 from CAPF), the cumulative number of positive cases in the State is 1,25,905 (1,21,451 civilians and 4,454 CAPF personnel).
As per the statement from the COVID-19 Common Control Room, 268 cases (including 20 from CAPF) are still active in the State.
As of yesterday (January 4), a total of 214 D-type Oxygen cylinders and 64 B-type Oxygen cylinders were made available to different health facilities in the State.
4229 doses of COVID-19 vaccine were administered yesterday taking the cumulative doses to 23,26,816 (13,30,162 1st dose and 9,96,654 2nd dose).
Jiribam, Imphal West and Kakching are the top three districts administering second dose to 58.86 percent, 57.93 percent and 56.30 percent of eligible population respectively while Kangpokpi with 13.03 percent, Ukhrul with 18.16 percent and Kamjong with 22.47 percent are at the bottom of the table.
