Churachandpur, March 16 2022:
Tuankhan Kiamlo Hangzo, who contested as INC candidate in the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly election from 58-Churachandpur AC, has thanked people of the constituency for responding to the call he made for bringing a change for next generation in the just concluded election.
While claiming that he secured more votes than expected in the election, Tuankhan said that cooperation and support of the people are required for development of the society and preserving ancestral lands.
The unsuccessful INC candidate, however, expressed regret over ethnicity and money-based voting in the election as also systematic booth capturing/rigging.
There were some polling stations where polling agents of some political parties were threatened and barred access to the polling stations by community leaders, he added.
Regarding the allegation that his candidacy was set up by BJP and JDU candidates of the constituency and that he had been bribed, Hangzo dismissed the charge as false and malicious.
