ZUF cadres held

A team of Imphal West district commandos arrested two active members of ZUF (Kamson faction) from Kanglatongbi Shantipur at around 4.30 pm today.
Based on specific information about movement of underground candres along the Imphal-Dimapur road, the team had carried out frisking and checking at Kanglatongbi Shantipur during which the two persons coming in a Maruti Gypsy towards Imphal were detained for checking and verification.
On spot verification, the two persons were identified as Samson Kamei (42), s/o Jaolung Kamei of Kambiron village in Noney district and Jona Thaimei alias Paojendao Thaimei (38), s/o (late) Khamdinlun Thaimei of Khoupum village also in Noney district.
They also revealed that they had started working for ZUF in 2011 under one self style military chief of ZUF A Longmei aliash Dihem and that they were coming back from Dimapur after meeting their commander, said a report from the police.
During a thorough search of the vehicle, one .32 pistol, one magazine and 60 rounds of .32 ammunition concealed inside the hose pipe cover of the vehicle were recovered.
They revealed that the recovered arms and ammunition were handed over to them to be used for organisational activities, added the police report.
The arrested persons along with the seized items have been handed over to Sekmai police station for necessary action.
