Senapati, March 16 2022:
Despite repeated reminders and petitions, a remote UJB school under Willong sub-division in Senapati district continues to suffer acute shortage of teachers, facilities & pathetic infrastructure.
Managed under ADC Senapati, the school lacks free books or other materials with no regular classes for almost 2 years due to the ongoing pandemic, said a village leader.
The UJB school has about 70 young students from Class I to V but is left to manage with only three teachers today from a total of 7 teachers who were initially posted.
The classrooms have no proper bench or desk, toilets, classrooms, power supply, teachers' room or quarters, study materials, play items or materials provided under flagship programs.

Recently, a separate kitchen was constructed but the main structure of the school is at the verge of collapsing, stated a village volunteer.
Due to such lack of proper facilities in Rajaimei village, many young students are denied the opportunity to learn.
Most of the parents cannot afford private school education fees and have to depend on the said school for their children.
Some go to a nearest missionary run school in Willong which is some 18 kms from Rajaimei village but some cannot even pay their school fees or boarding fees.
The said UJB school is not even among the educational institutions in Manipur listed recently for upgradation of infrastructure, smart class room items, additional classrooms, toilets or funds.
Amid the Covid pandemic, the closure of educational institutions also severely affected the students, informed a village education volunteer.
From pathetic infrastructure to poor attention by authorities concerned, the school is left to rot forcing the village children to opt for private schools in Senapati DHQ or Willong.
The village authority has appealed to the State Government to immediately intervene and do the needed.
