Imphal, March 16 2022:
United Committee Manipur (UCM) president Joychandra Konthoujam has categorically stated that Manipur State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) complex at the heart of Dimapur, Nagaland is in a complete mess with literally no one to look after it.
He said this after inspecting the MSRTC complex in Dimapur which is considered as the business hub of Nagaland with the members of Dimapur Meetei Council (DMC) as a part of UCM's Eegi Khongul Liba (Tracing the blood) programme.
Saying that the condition of MSRTC complex is in disarray with some people operating it as a garage and godown due to the inattention of the State Government, Joychandra urged all concerned to look into the matter and extend cooperation to DMC in establishing a Manipur Guest House inside the complex.
DMC president Thangjam Sarat stated that they have not received any support from the State Government side in the construction of Manipur Guest House.
The guest house, once completed, will be able to provide shelter to Manipuris stranded in Dimapur due to emergent issues such as a landslide or bandh and blockade.
He also claimed that Manipuris have been settling in Nagaland since 1930 but are deprived of many rights such as holding of a land patta.
Before the inspection drive, a meeting was convened at Thahekhu village, Dimapur.
The UCM visited Ichamati, Koilaghat, Bairong, Kurikhal, Nayabasti, and Bholaganj villages in East Khasi Hills, Meghalaya which have a considerable Manipuri populace.
