IBSD organises I-Connect programme

Imphal, March 16 2022:
Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development (IBSD), Imphal on Wednesday organised an Industry-Connect (I-Connect) programme for developing collaboration between industry and institute.
In a release, IBSD Director's secretary Atom Samarendra stated that the programme held as a part of 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav' was inaugurated by Government of India Department of Science & Technology secretary Dr Srivari Chandrasekhar and was attended by entrepreneurs from Manipur and different parts of North Eastern region of India.
During the event, several entrepreneurs shared their knowledge for the development of products/processes/ technologies with value addition of bioresources and development of bioeconomy from bioresources, it added.
The programme organised under the Phytopharmaceutical Mission on developing bioeconomy from bioresources highlighted specially the usage of medicinal plants, foods, bamboo species and other resources for the promotion of ethno-entrepreneurs in Manipur.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Chandrasekhar stressed on the importance of traditional knowledge and medicinal plants available in NER.
He also appreciated 1BSD director Prof Pulok K Mukherjee for taking such initiatives for linking industry experts with local entrepreneurs in NER.
The programme was also attended by Vijnana Bharati national organising secretary Jayant Sahasrabudhe along with many entrepreneurs from NER including Dr Th Dhabali Singh, Dr Palin Khundongbam, Kamesh Salam, Elizabeth Yambem, Phyrnai Shadap and traditional healers including Tombiraj Ningthoukhongjam and Asem Mohori Moirangcha, the release said.
Many speakers/experts including Dr Alka Sharma, Dr Manish Diwan, Dr Manoj Modi, Dr Mohd Aslam, Dr G Narahari Sastry, Prof Sitesh C Bachar, Prof Michael Heinrich, Dr Rakshak Kumar, Dr Kruolalie Tsurho, Dr Subhash Mandal, Dr CK Katiyar, Dr S Yoirentomba and Dr Thiyam David Singh spoke about opportunities for establishing industries in NER.
During the programme, industrialists including Birendra K Sarkar, Ranjit Puranik, Dr CK Katiyar, Kartikeya Baldwa, Anish Chakraborty, Indra -neel Das and Dr Ramakant Harlalka also shared their knowledge for the development of products/processes/ technologies with value addition of bioresources of NER, it stated.
