Covid jabs for 12-14 yrs begins across state

The vaccination drive against Covid-19 for children in the age group of 12-14 years commenced from Wednesday at the RD Wing, Lamphel here.
The drive is being organised jointly by National Health Mission and Family Welfare Services.
Children in the age group are being administered with "Corbevax" vaccine.
Speaking on the occasion, Additional chief secretary V Vumlunmang expressed his joy over the initiative of Government of India to ensure vaccination of the children in the age group against Covid-19 free of cost.
He then said that the pandemic has been raging on for over two years now and getting vaccinated is the only means of putting an end to this pandemic, while urging all concerned to get vaccinated and help Manipur to become Covid free.
The inaugural function was also attended by Imphal West DC Th Kirankumar; State Immunisation Officer Dr Th Manihar; CMO Imphal West and other District Immunisation Officers.
The vaccination drive was also launched in Kakching district by deputy commissioner Somorjit Salam and chief medical officer Kakching Dr Thaodem Rajen at Community Health Centre, Kakching in the presence of ADC A Adahrii Maheo, Kakching CHC MO in-charge Dr Y Nando and Immunisation in-charge Dr Kshetrimayum Sumati among others.
Speaking at the function, Dr Rajen informed that Covid vaccination rate in the state for first dose is 61.36 per cent and 50.02 per cent for second dose.
However, Kakching district recorded 78.11 per cent in first dose and 66.60 per cent in second dose, thus achieving the highest rate among the districts.
Dr Rajen also lauded PHC Hiyanglam staff nurse Memi, who was awarded as one of the best vaccinators in the country on the occasion of International Women's Day by Union Health and Family Department in Delhi, and all the health staffers in Kakching.
In Churachandpur district the vaccination drive for children (12-14) commenced after CMO Dr Kimngaihching launched the programme at the district immunisation office.
The programme was moderated by DFWO Dr Paulunmang.
After administration of the first dose of Corbevax vaccine the beneficiaries would be eligible for the second dose on completion of 28 days.
As in other parts of the country and state, District Health Society and District Immunisation Officer, Thoubal commenced the Covid-19 vaccination drive for children at Nawa Sindam Sang, Thoubal Kshetri Leikai on Wednesday.
In all, 36 students of Nawa Sindam Sang were jabbed.
Speaking on the sidelines, District Immunisation Officer Dr Ksh Memcha informed that for Thoubal district, 1,66,612 people have taken the first dose; 1,22,1163 administered the second dose, while 4762 have received the booster dose.
So far, 68 per cent of the population has been jabbed with the first dose, while 48 per cent have been administered with the second dose.
Regarding the vaccination for 12 years and above, people can get vaccinated at the three permanent vaccination centres at District Hospital, CHC Yairipok and Primary Health Centre, Lilong, on any given day, she informed and urged all concerned to get vaccinated.
