Petrol and diesel price are likely to increase in the days to come as the price of crude oil has increased by about 50 dollars per barrel.
According to an official report received from Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), the price of petrol and diesel might be increased at the rate of Rs 10 per litre through a gradual process in the days to come though not instantly.
Currently, petrol and diesel prices at Friendly Enterprise at Khabeisoi, Imphal East are Rs 99.82 and 84.26 per litre respectively while the fuel prices are slightly higher at Heirangoithong Service State in Imphal West with petrol and diesel rate fixed at Rs 99.87 and 84.30 per litre.
The source in the IOCL continued that fuel prices have not been changed in Manipur since November 2021 .
Though not instantly, it is expected that petrol and diesel prices will likely be increased by about Rs 10 per litre in the near future, it said.
The source further stated that the price of crude oil has been increased from 88 dollars to 140 dollars per barrel.
Despite the hike in crude oil prices, petrol and diesel rates might not have been hiked for a period in view of the Assembly elections in five States including Manipur, it opined.
The source went on to state that petrol and diesel price hikes might resume very soon as the Assembly polls have ended.
