JAC accuses MLA of side-lining issue, threatens intense stir

The JAC against the killing of Md Rashid Ahmed alias Sanayai of Mayai Keithel has expressed its annoyance at the Andro MLA for allegedly delaying talks with regard to the killing of Md Rashid Ahmed, who was found dead on October 6 .
Meanwhile, the body of Rashid has been claimed and the final rites performed on Sunday in the interest of the bereaved family.
Speaking to newspersons at Rashid's residence on Sunday, JAC convenor Md Helalluddin recounted that Md Rashid had gone to Nongpok Keithelmanbi, Andro AC on October 4 and had Remained untraceable.
However, his body was reported lying at Yambem PHC on October 6.Amidst such a sad situation, Andro MLA Th Shyamkumar invited the parties involved for talks but later proceeded to delay the same, which could only be taken as looking down on the rural minority community.
As such, the JAC will continue to protest including launch of intense agitations until the truth of the case is revealed, he cautioned, while adding that Rashid's body was claimed for performing the last rites in the interest of the bereaved family, Rashid's younger brother Arif Khan recalled that after his brother went to Nongpok Keithelmanbi, he could not be contacted.
When the family again tried to contact Rashid on the phone later that day, they were informed that he (Rashid) had fallen asleep.
On October 6 at around 7pm, the family did not get to speak to him on the phone but heard conversations about killing and beatings.
At around 10 am, they received a call informing that Rashid was lying dead at Yambem PHC.
Condemning his brother's murder as well as attempts to slander his family, Arif demanded the government authority concerned to arrest and punish the culprit(s) responsible.
He further urged the state CSOs, clubs and organisations to extend support to any protest undertaken by the JAC in this regard.
