Scholarship distributed; security/anti-drug meet conducted

Imphal, October 09 2022:
In collaboration with ICICI bank, Keithelmanbi Battalion of IGAR (South) distributed first instalment of scholarship amounting Rs 56,250 to four students, who qualified for admission to Sainik School, Imphal in Class VI this year.
In a release, PRO IGAR (S) informed that the successful students belong to Economic Weaker Sections (EWS) and hence the scholarship was given to enable parents � of these students to afford fees during the academic session.
While informing that the initiative has been undertaken by Assam Rifles in partnership with ICICI bank, the PRO said that scholarship cheques were distributed to four students under ICICI Scholarship Scheme on the 51st foundation day of Sainik School, Imphal.
Second instalment of scholarship will also be distributed in due course of time, it added.
On the other-hand, Chas-sad Battalion Assam Rifles on Saturday organised a security and coordination meet with the locals at Ai-shi village in the view of current escalating security situation in Myanmar and its implications for the border villages of Manipur.
The village members were specifically made aware of the present situation in Myanmar and asked to convey to all the villagers to report any Myanmar locals trying to infiltrate into Indian villages for taking refuge.
The programme was attended by village headmen and authorities of Aishi, Molvailup and Kultukh.
In another release, the PRO informed that Chassad Battalion organised a cyber-awareness lecture for troops of Assam Rifles on the occasion of Cyber Jagrukata Diwas at Chassad in Kamjong district on October 6 during which the troops were made aware on the do's and don'ts in social media, safeguarding mobile and personal computer from cyber-attacks.
Meanwhile, a lecture on 'Drugs Abuse' under Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan was organised at Chassad village on Thursday during which emphasis was given on spreading awareness to prevent use of drugs and achieve the goal of a sustainable world free of drugs.
Moreover, parents were made aware to keep their children away from drugs or getting involved into any kind of addiction, added the release.
