In a remarkable accomplishment in the field of e-commerce, a website called "Ecomkeithel", an e-commerce mega-store of Manipur was launched at Manipur Press Club, Imphal today.
The launching function was attended by president of All Manipur Working Journalist Union (AMWJU), Wangkhemcha Shamjai, proprietor of Meira Foods H.Subhra Devi and Dr N..CShanta, Lecturer of Johnstone Higher Secondary School as chief guest, guest of honour and president respectively.
Speaking at the launching function, N.Dayananda, managing director of Ecomkeithel who was also present during the programme said that the website is an online megastore for different products of Manipur and other Indian products.
The new venture will provide the opportunity especially for Manipuris staying outside of the state to get Manipuri indigenous products at their doorstep within two to five working days.
Various flavours of pickle like ngari, chicken, u-morok (king chilli), soibum (bamboo shoot) and sekmai ngari would be available for order at the website.
The website would also sell craft items like kouna (water reed), water hyacinth, bamboo, cane (Lee) craft and handloom products like Rani phee, Wangkhei phee and Pheege phanek.
Electronic items like laptop, mobile, pen drives, mobile and computer accessories would also be available, Dayananda maintained.
Apart from selling these items, the website also offers free local classified ads which can provide simple solution to the complications involved in the process of selling and buying.
The payment of the ordered items on the website can be done through debit card, credit card and net banking while for some selected areas cash on delivery option is also available.
Speaking as the chief guest, Wangkhemcha Shamjai said that the people of the state should take utmost advantage of the development made in the field of Information Technology (IT) and try to explore and popularize the unique identity, culture and indigenous products of the Manipur to other parts of the nation.
The launching of the Ecomkeithel website is a major step which will be helpful to not only in showcasing the distinct culture and identity of the state but also in bringing economic prosperity.
As the export rate of the Manipuri indigenous products ranging from handloom and handicraft products is exceedingly low, Shamjai appealed to the people to work harder and try to make certain progress in the particular field.
