The 59th State Level Wildlife Week was kick-started today at CC Higher Secondary School with a wildlife photography competition.
Altogether 148 photographers are taking part in the wildlife photography contest being organised as a part of the Wildlife Week under the aegis of the Wildlife Wing of Forest Department.
Speaking at the inaugural function, Principal Chief Conservator of Forest PN Prasad said that human beings and wildlife share an inseparable bond.
The future of Manipur economy lies in eco-tourism.
Noting that Sangai and Siroy Lily identify Manipur to the outside world, the PCCF highlighted the importance of protecting wildlife.
As a part of the Wildlife Week, quiz, painting and essay writing competitions are also being held at district level.
Meanwhile a Monitor Lizard (Hangkok) rescued by Leishangthem Basan, Leishangthem Kumar and Kokpi of Keinou Thongkha has been handed over Keibul Lamjao National Park Authority through TYDA secretary E Premjit.
