The Director of National Alliance for Elder''s People Livelihood Research Advocacy and Chronic Diseases of India, (NAEPLRACD) H Sanamatum has questioned whether the funds released by the Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment to NGOs in Manipur are being utilised for the intended purpose or not.
In a statement issued to the press today, the Director is quoted to have raised this point during a function jointly organised by Regional Health and Family Welfare Training Centre, JNIMS Nurses Association, and NAEPLRACD.
The function was organised in connection with the one day consultation programme on Memory Walk and North East State Initiative on Dementia during World Alzheimer's Month.
The Director further said that from the 39th report of the standing committee of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, a huge amount of money was sanctioned to 26 NGOs in Manipur and added that under the Integrated Programme for Older Persons an amount of Rs one hundred ninety two lakh and twenty thousand were granted to NGOs.
