Imphal, October 01 2014:
Manipur State Congress Party (MSCP) president Adim Pamei has announced that a legal suit would be filed against Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president and Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam.
Speaking to some media persons this afternoon, Adim Pamei said that Gaikhangam was deliberately trying to mislead and confuse the public by claiming that the authority concerned would soon declare MSCP as non-existent.
All the arrangements for the by-election to Hiyanglam A/C are being done by the CEO Manipur under the auspices of the ECI.
By claiming that there was perhaps communication between the CEO and the ECI, the Deputy Chief Minister was projecting the CEO as functioning under his command.
The RO has already given approval to the candidature of MSCP candidate Th Laiba.
Although the five MLAs of MSCP merged with Congress, it does not mean the whole party has merged with Congress.
This was reflected undoubtedly when the RO cleared the nomination papers of the MSCP candidate.
Decrying that the Deputy Chief Minister's statement was unbecoming of a legislator, Adim Pamei said that Gaikhangam would imperil political career of the five MLAs.
In case the MSCP candidate loses the Hiyanglam by-election, a legal suit would be filed against Gaikhangam seeking compensation including the expenditure incurred in the by-election, Adim Pamei said.
