Demanding release of 18-month due salaries for Madrasa teachers at the earliest, the All Manipur Madrasa Modernization Teachers' Welfare Association took out a protest rally today.
The rally started from Babupara and headed towards the Chief Minister bungalow to submit a memorandum.
However, the protesters were stopped by security personnel near Moirangkhom Bus Station.
Later, president of the association, Asak Ali and secretary Siraj were allowed to submit the memorandum to the CM.
As the members failed to meet the CM due to his tight schedule, they met Agriculture Minister Abdul Nasir, during which the members apprised the Minister of their grievances due to non-release of 18-month salaries.
Interacting with media persons, members of the association said that altogether 150 teachers of the 30 Madrasas in the State are reeling under financial burden owing to non-release of 18-month salaries and urged the authorities concerned to release the due salaries before coming Id festival.
