Far East India Solidarity Forum and the Hueiyen Lanpao Group of Publications have appealed to the people of Manipur to donate generously to the 'Assam & Meghalaya Flood Relief Fund' which has been launched to raise money for assisting the flood affected people of the two north eastern states.
Calling upon the people to extend monetary help for the aggrieved flood affected people of Assam and Meghalaya states, the Forum said that the funds raised for the purpose would be donated to the chief minister's relief fund of the two states.
Names and addresses of the generous contributors to the Fund will be published in this Daily, the Forum added.
Following the collection of a sum of Rs.1,40,800/- as donations from 23 individuals from various walks of life on the first day yesterday, eight more donors including one from outside the state have contributed a total amount of Rs.17, 000/- on the second day today.
.LBaleshore from Singjamei Oinam Thingel has contributed Rs.5000 to the Fund, while Advocate RK Deepak from Singjamei Chinga Mathak and Leimapokpam Vedanti of AIR Imphal have donated Rs.3000 each for the relief fund.
Responding to the humanitarian call of the Forum, Sobhan Barman on behalf of the Printers' Point, Guwahati donated Rs.2000 for the initiative, while Dr..LSarat from Lilong Chajing, Dr.Hunibou from Tamei, S.Jitelal Sharma from Wahengbam Leikai and RK Jiten from Wangkhei Angom Leikai have contributed Rs.1000 each to the relief fund.
Appreciating the generous donors, the Far East India Solidarity Forum and the Hueiyen Lanpao Group of Publications have stated that the statement of accounts pertaining to the relief fund to be raised during a specific period of time will be published in this Daily.
