Imphal, October 01 2014:
The proscribed Revolutionary People's Front (RPF) has alleged that the civilians in the interior villages of Manipur are being oppressed by the Indian Army on false charges of planting bombs.
According to a release of the RPF issued by its Secretary Publicity Roben Khuman, the villagers of Old Somtal near the Indo-Myanmar border were harassed by the personnel of Assam Rifles following an attack carried out by some rebel group on August 26 this year.
The villagers including women and children were made to stand in the rain from morning till late night by the Assam Rifles alleging that the bomb attack was carried out by them.
Post Commander of 3-Assam Rifles Major Suter also imposed restriction on free movement of the villagers in the aftermath of the attack.
With the objective of covering up their misdeeds, the Indian forces often organize medical camps and other civil action programmes by distributing computer sets to schools and other items to villagers.
This is just an eyewash and the innocent people are being fooled by such acts, the statement said. The RPF also alleged that the innocent civilians were beaten black and black by the Indian forces following a bomb blast at Yaingangpokpi area.
The corrupt behaviour of the Indian security forces has been exposed by the Tehelka magazine in its special investigative report on payment of bribes for awarding contract works to the Assam Rifles authorities.
The people of Manipur should be cautious against the Indian Army and its sinister programmes under "Operation Good Samaritan".
The Indian forces are simply extracting huge amount of money from their masters in New Delhi in the name of helping the people of the State, the statement of the proscribed RPF added.
