Multipurpose cold storage opened at Kangmong

Imphal, December 21 2022:
Health and IPR minister Dr S Ranjan Singh on Wednesday inaugurated a Multipurpose Cold Storage at Kangmong, Imphal West district which has a capacity of 200 metric ton with four chambers.
Delivering the address as the chief guest address, Dr Ranjan said that in view of the state producing different varieties of food crops and fruits festivals to encourage orange, lemon, chilli, pineapple, etc., farmers are being organised.
He also commended progressive farmers for venturing into plantation of non-indigenous fruits and vegetables and stressed the need for setting up more cold storages to prevent loss of perishable farm products in the state.
While maintaining that the state is gifted with rich soil which is suitable for variety of crops, the minister urged farmers to make the use of the soil at the optimum so that there will be no shortage of food grains.
Speaking as the functional president, Naorya Pakhanglakpa MLA S Kebi Devi expressed that setting up of cold storage at different locations will help availability of farm products during the off season.
The inaugural programme was also attended by Keishamthong MLA S Nishikant Singh, Additional chief secretary P Vaiphei and Horticulture director Honey Chara as members of the dais.
