Letpao launches river clean-up campaign

Tribal affairs & hills minister Letpao Haokip on Wednesday launched a 20-day river clean-up campaign, which is being taken up by Khujailok Lailok Environment Protection Committee (KLEPCO) during a programme held at Laizon Turf complex, Moreh Ward No 9.The campaign was launched in the presence of representatives of Moreh-based Meetei Council, Hill Tribal Council, All Community Development Organisation, Manipuri Muslim Council, members of Kuki Chiefs' Association and personnel of 5 Assam Rifles.
Speaking at the event, minister Letpao Haokip remarked that as water and rivers do not differentiate between communities, saving water means saving humanity.
Extending his support to KLEPCO's initiative of cleaning up rivers, he also appealed to the public to help in keeping the rivers neat and clean.
Meanwhile, minister Letpao Haokip distributed Manipur Old Age Pension Scheme and Chief Minister Widow Scheme Cards to beneficiaries of Tengnoupal assembly constituency as part of Go to Village 2.0 organised by district social welfare officer Tengnoupal at Laizon Turf Complex on Tuesday.
