CM launches Airtel 5G service

The first ever 5G service in the North East operated by Airtel has been launched in the state by chief minister N Biren at his cabinet hall on Wednesday.
Airtel is the first operator to launch 5G service in North East and the service will be available in around 40 places of Imphal West and Imphal East districts.
After launching the Airtel's 5G service, chief minister Biren highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision regarding 5G Network and said India had launched the 5G network on October 1, 2022 with an objective to transform various sectors including health, transport, logistics, agriculture, disaster management, etc.
Making use of telecom infrastructure extensively for better governance is an integral part of the state's development strategy, he said, adding that 5G network offers manufacturers and telecom operators the chance to build smart factories.
He also said that Manipur has become the 17th state to launch 5G network and first in the North East.
The launching of 5G service will improve the lives of the common man apart from raising the living standard of the people of Manipur, Biren said, adding that it will also create employment opportunities as well as generating revenue for the state.
He then urged the telecom service provider to focus on extending the service in border and remotest areas of the state as well.
Chief secretary Dr Rajesh Kumar and Bharti Airtel, Assam and North East CEO Rajnish Verma also attended the launch event.
At the launch event, Dr Rajesh Kumar expressed confidence that in the next six months each and every habitation, recognised village in the state will have at least 4G connection which will make connectivity in Manipur one of the best in the North East region.
Meanwhile, Rajnish Verma said that Airtel is the first telecom operator to launch 5G service in the North East.
The 5G service launched on Wednesday will provide facilities in places like Thangmeiband Polem Leikai, Babupara, Wangkhei, Kongpal Kongkham Leikai, Uchekon Khunou, Langthabal Mayai Leikai, Thongam Leikai, Lamlongei Mayai Leikai, Naharup Pangong Makhong, Sagolband Khamnam Leirak, Tourangbam Leikai, Mantripukhri, Sagolband Tera Lukram Leirak, Uripok Bachaspati Leirak, Khabeisoi Thong, Khonghampat Mayai Leikai, Khurai Angom Leikai, Chingtham Leikai, Sagolband, Akampat, Mayang Langjing, Langjing Leikai, Khabeisoi Kongba Mapal, Sawombung Thongkhong, Iroisemba Lourembam Leikai, Luwangsangbam, Khurai Ipum Mapal, Malom bazar, Khongman Mangjil Mamang, Heingang, Chasad Avenue, Sangaiprou Mamang Leikai, Lamdeng Khunou, Heibongpokpi Awang Leikai, Chingmeirong Mamang Leikai and Loitang Khullen.
CEO Rajnish said: "Airtel customers can now experience ultrafast network and enjoy speed up to 20-30 times faster than the current 4G speeds.
We are in the process of lighting up the entire city which will allow customers to enjoy superfast access to high-definition video streaming, gaming, multiple chatting, instant uploading of photos and more" .

With this launch, India will get a fillip to economic growth as Airtel 5G Plus revolutionises education, healthcare, manufacturing, agriculture, mobility and logistics, he maintained.
Meanwhile, an Airtel release also promised to offer best voice experience and work on all 5G smart phones.
It also informed that there is no need for SIM change and that existing Airtel 4G SIM is 5G enabled.
The existing data plans will work on 5G until rollout is complete, it said.
Airtel 5G Plus works on all Android and Apple supported 5G devices, said the release.
It is informed that customers with 5G enabled devices will enjoy high speed Airtel 5G Plus network at no extra cost until the roll out is more widespread.
