Imphal, December 21 2022:
Jiri Apunba Khunai Chaokhat Lup (JAKCL), Boro Bekra Unit and Barak Brother Union (BBU) have urged the state government to finish the development of Jiri-Tipaimukh (JT) road at the earliest and make it at par with the changing times.
In a release, JAKCL secretary Y Sanjoy stated that due to deplorable condition of the JT road caused by prolonged negligence of the government, JAKCL and BBU with financial support from public had repaired the 25-km long stretch of the road.
The bad condition of the JT road has led to many accidents.
The distance of Jiri to Boro Bekra is only 30 km but it takes more than three hours travelling on the said road which is a huge inconvenience to the public, it added.
JAKCL pointed out that the JT road is an important link road for Tipaimukh Dam Project with the central government even releasing fund amounting to Rs 114 crore and floating tender for development or the road.
But till now, nothing has changed on the ground.
The state government must look into why the road has not yet been developed and initiate repairing of the said without further delay in the interest of people settling in the area, it reiterated.
