Senapati, December 21 2022:
The United Naga Council (UNC) has urged the Southern Angami Public Organization (SAPO) to withdraw the restriction placed on Mao people.
In a press communique, the UNC said that the chronic land dispute in the border areas has dented the relationship between SAPO and Mao Council.
Maintaining that land dispute is a common phenomenon and every Naga village shares a traditional village boundary with more than one village, the UNC said that most of the boundary disputes of Nagas were settled based on customary practices and without the intervention of other forces.
Sensing the impending danger arising out of the protracted conflict, the UNC has appealed to both the organisations to refrain from resorting to violence.
The UNC also urged SAPO to reconsider their stance and withdraw the restriction placed on Mao people.
