Monitoring projects on weekly basis: Khemchand

Admitting that projects taken up in the hills and remote areas are often found poorly executed in the absence of regular monitoring, D&PR minister Yumnam Khemchand said that he has started monitoring projects in remote areas personally by visiting the work sites two days a week.
Speaking as the chief guest of the inauguration function of a new office building of Social Workers' Club (SWC), Heirangoithong, Imphal West on Wednesday, Khemchand contended that contractors lack sincerity in executing government projects and as a result, they often flout project guidelines in the absence of regular monitoring.
To ensure that all projects are implemented judiciously weekly personal visit to project sites are being undertaken, he reiterated and cautioned that suitable actions will be initiated against contractors if they were found flouting project guidelines.
On the other hand, the minister encouraged local clubs to focus on sports apart from their social services.
Heirangoithong used to be a hub of gymnasts but the locality no longer produces new players today, he noted and urged the local clubs in his constituency to contribute in making Singjamei a leading constituency in the held of games and sports.
SWC president Thounaojam Jayanta presided over the function while advisors Aheibam Raganar, Yanglem Irabpt and local veteran player Nameirakpam Amumacha attended as guests of honour.
