Imphal, June 06 2023:
While every MIS has a political party, the act of summoning MLAs for talks based on their community instead of through their po-litical affiliation has raised suspicious on whether there is plan to form separate ad-ministrations in Manipur, opined All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO) president Ph Nando Luwang.
Under the theme of 'No separate administration in Manipur' of AMUCO, mass sit-in protests were staged in various places on Tuesday.
The sit-ins organised by Wangkhem Nongmail-eima Youth Club (WNYC), Wan Them Sporting Club (WSC and Wangkhem Ma-ra Pat i at Keirao Wangkhem Keithel; Imphal East District United Clubs' Organisation, SEDOC and Imoinu Women's Welfare Association at Kong-ba Dhobi Lampak, Imoinu Keithel; Khurai Puthiba Nandeibam Leikai Ima Lup at Khurai Nandeibam Leikai Community hall and Yaipha Lamjing Meira Lup at Ukhrul Road COCO Mamang.
Speaking at the sit-in at Kongba Dhobi Lampak, Ph Nando Luwang expressed dis-satisfaction over the Union government's communal ac-tions instead of trying to end the violence in Manipur.
The government's act of meeting the MLAs on the basis of their community (Naga, Kuki and Meitei) instead of summoning them through their respective political party has raised sus-picions of hidden agenda to set up a separate government in Manipur.
As such, AMUCO will continue to stage sit-in protests with local clubs and Meira Paibi against any separate administration in Manipur, he said.
Questioning the benefit of union home minister Amit Shah's visit to the state and his assurances to restore peace when Kuki militants are continuing to attack in-nocent civilians unabated; the AMUCO president fur-ther questioned the moral responsibility of the central government in this regard.
The union minister assured to safeguard Manipur's integrity but has failed to pacify fears of the same from the minds of the people during his visit, which could now be said to be fruitless.
"It is the unwavering stand of the people that the territo-rial integrity of Manipur must never be disturbed and that there should be no separate administration in the state.
Any scenario contradicting this is unacceptable," Nando said, while stating that people are ready to stand against any such situation.
Poirei Leimarol Meira Paibi Apunba Manipur president Longjam Memchoubi said that the violence has left many displaced and affect-ed thousands.
However, it is to be noted that the violence was not propagated the indig-enous Kuki brethren but Kuki militants under So0 who have infiltrated from outside the state.
She then condemned the central government's policy of protecting the mil-itants and further escalating the violence, while urging all concerned for concerted efforts in protecting the in-tegrity of the state.
