Imphal, June 06 2023:
Even as violence continues in the State, the United Naga Council (UNC) has appealed to both the communities for paving a way forward in a peaceful manner.
The UNC today said it is perturbed to witness the continuous act of vengeance and the perpetual cycle of violence with no end in sight.
In a statement issued to Newmai News Network, the Naga body said that despite repeated appeals for the restoration of normalcy in the State, there are cases of gun fights at the peripheries of the hill districts and torching of villages in the foothills.
It is easier said than done, and perhaps the affected people may find it hard to hear any appeal for peace when so many lives have been lost and properties destroyed beyond measure.
However, the UNC, as an apex body of 20 Naga tribes, feels the urgency to express our opinion that coming to terms democratically for peaceful settlement is the only solution, it said.
