Four dead bodies claimed

Imphal, June 06 2023:
Bodies of four persons, who were killed in attack by Kuki militants, have been claimed on Wednesday after the post mortem examination.
Three of the four bodies be-long to Pukhrambam Nikhil (21) son of P Node of Khun-drakpam Lai Mamang, Angora Romesh (62) son of late Mukta of Phayeng Awang Leikai and An-gom Rakesh (43) son of Arpin Tembi of Phayeng Sabal They were killed in a shootout with Kuki militants in Phayeng area on Monday.
The other body belongs to Toijam Chandramani (30) son of Toijam Ingochou-ba of Churachandpur Thengra Leirak, who was killed on May 23 night in Bishnupur district.
Khundrakpam MLA Th Lokeshwar, who came with the family members of Nildml and local people of Khundrakpam Lai Mamang to claim his body, said that both the state and cen-tral governments have failed to quell the violence for over a month and the two should be held responsible for the deaths and destructions the state is witnessing.
United Committee of Chan-gangei Clubs & Organisations (UNICCCO) and Ipudhou Pa-khangba Thougal Lup paid floral tributes as a mark of respect to Toijam Chandramani Meitei.
In separate releases, UNIC-CCO, Ipudhou Pakhangba Thougal Lup and Malom Awang Apunba Nupi Lup said its members along with the locals paid the tribute as the mortal remains of Chandramani were being taken to Moirang from the morgue.
They also shared pain and grief of the bereaved family.
