Imphal, June 06 2023:
Langthabal AC MLA Karam Shyam provided monetary aid to 41 persons belonging to the Meitei community who have been injured in attacks carried out by Kuki militants.
The 41 persons, including children are in different hospitals undergoing treatment and MLA Karam Shyam personally visited them at the hospitals and provided assistance of Rs 5,000 to each individual for their treatment.
Of the 41 persons, 26 are receiving treatment at RIMS Hospital.
Four are in Raj Medicity (one in ICU) .
Five are in Little Clinic (two in ICU) .
Six including two children are in JNIMS Hospital (one in ICU) .
At one of the hospitals, MLA Karam Shyam said Kuki militant groups under SoO (Suspension of Operation) and non-SoO groups have not stopped attacking Meitei villages and people till today.
The militants have burnt hundreds of houses, killing and injuring many innocent people in their unabated attacks.
Amid the war-like situation, the Assam Rifles seems to be acting in collusion [with the Kuki militants].
The Assam Rifles not intervening to protect the civilians when the villages come under attack in their presence is very unfortunate, Karam Shyam said.
He then stressed that the people rising against the SoO militants and the Assam Rifles is justified.
In the midst of the present crisis, one should not talk only on the media for political gains.
All should come to the field and do whatever they can to help the people, he said.
He stated the monetary assistance was provided to help the injured persons in their treatment and show care for them.
