Khwairamband desolated as cease work protest begins

Condeming the discriminate attacks by Kuki militants in the peripheral villages , Khwairamband vendors launch a three day cease work protest on Tuesday.
All shops and Thangal Keithel, Paona Keithel and the three Khwairamband Keithel along with Temporary Market extended full support to the protest.

Speaking in this regard, a representative of Khwairam-band Keithel Apunba Nupi Lup contended that it is meaningless for the vendors to earn money happily while our children are being target-ed.
She then urged the cen-tral and state governments to restore peace and normalcy in the state as soon as possi-ble, while taking strict action against the Kuki militants under SoO.
Meanwhile, the women vendors announced a boycott of all those objecting to the cease work protest, adding that the vendors had previ-ously announced its decision to protest in the media.
Amid the protest, some vendors tried to set up shop which led to a brief scuffle.
In this regard, a vendor said that the three women vendors, who were also former leaders of the market body, violated the collective decision of the vendors and as such, they have been boycotted and banished from operating in the market.
In addition, all three are prohibited from speaking on behalf of the market, she conveyed.
