CCpur sit-in backs separate administration; 1 killed

In support of separate administration demand, large numbers of women came out and staged sit-in demonstration at four places in Churachandpur town on Tuesday.
The demonstrations were held at Tuibong peace ground, Old Bazar near the Police station, New Lamka and near Churachandpur Medical College (CMC).
Situation in Churachan-dpur remains tense as all shops downed shutters and streets remain deserted throughout the day after a man was killed and two oth-ers sustained bullet injuries in alleged firing by securi-ty forces at Thingkangphai village on Tuesday morning.
The deceased man has been identified as Ngamgoumang (30) of Chehjang village.
The injured identified as Ngam-boi, 35 of Gothol village and Letminlal, 30 of Lajangphai have been admitted at Chu-rachandpur district hospital.
According to sources, some 37 Assam Rifles troops entered Y Thingkangphai village in a Casper vehicle at about 5am Tuesday and started firing towards village defence force volunteers during which one of the volunteers got killed at the spot but others escaped to the nearby paddy fields.
There are also reports of heavy gun-battle at Leisen and L Kananphai villages but there is no report of casualty.
