CCpur, February 27 2022:
A team of CSOs led by Gangpimual village authority chairman Henjagou visited BSF camp on Sunday regarding mortar bomb blast that took place around 7.30 pm on Saturday at Mualkawi village and claimed the lives of two people and left four others injured.
One of the injured persons succumbed on Sunday.
The team verified areas where the mortar bomb was retrieved by the scrap collector and taken to the firing range of Subsidiary Training Centre, STC/BSF by BSF officials where they were briefed by assistant commandant Douminlian, who hails from the same locality.
When the CSOs allegted that the mortar bomb belonged to BSF, Douminlian defended the BSF stating that the force took utmost care in any firing exercise and the demolition team is put in place so that they may demolish any bomb misfired apart from taking up other safety measures.
BSF officials led by commandant Rajesh Kumar Mishra, chief instructor Suresh Kumar and others also told the team that BSF takes utmost care to prevent any collateral damage.
However, the team of CSOs strongly refuted BSF's claim and asked as to how it was possible to retrieve the bomb from the parameters of the firing range and BSF officials' denial was baseless and unacceptable.
Finally, the CO agreed to do ceasefire, which according to tribal customary practices means Hiamkham, thereby wrapping the deceased body with traditional shawls apart from extending monetary assistance.
The CO also assured of providing all possible help in giving employment opportunities to next of kin of the deceased.
Meanwhile, all the three bodies have been taken by their families after post mortem and their last rites will be performed on Monday.
