Year long silver jubilee celebration of Library and Information Centre Kakching concludes

Library and Information Centre Kakching concluded its year long Silver Jubilee celebration by conducting a simple function at the auditorium hall of the Centre yesterday.
The event was attended by renowned Manipuri film personalities including Kangabam Tomba (Lamja Tomba), Yengkhom Roma, Kshetrimayum Rashi Devi and Konthoujam Naba, retd Superintendent Engineer, M Kunjakesho, vice president Library and Information Centre and Yambem Satya as presidium members.
Secretary, Library and Information Centre, Ksh Joykumar addressed the gathering and shared that the Centre was founded on April 21, 1994 by a group of intellectuals and members of clubs and organisations across Kakching district while Dr N Giridhari served as the first librarian of the Centre.

He added that 2019 marked the 25th year, the silver jubilee of the Centre, and various events had been organised throughout the year in celebration.
This included a book fair, blood donation drive, national science day, symposiums, motivational programmes among others.
However due to the spread of the pandemic, a proper valedictory function could not be organised for the silver jubilee celebration, he stated.
But with the easing of restrictions and dwindling number of cases, the Centre began organising virtual events including 'Special Sundays', which was targeted towards children and the decision was made to organise the valedictory function of the silver jubilee celebration today.
Other speakers at the function stressed on the benefits of libraries and expressed belief that the Centre will help in shaping many future eminent personalities from Kakching.
Kakching Dramatic Union presented an outstanding performance of GC Tongbra's play "Matric Pass' as part of the function.
The event was also attended by many library patrons and writers of the State.
