Livestock vaccinated under NEC project

Imphal, February 27 2022:
Department of Animal Sciences, College of Agriculture, Imphal in association with Directorate of Research, Central Agricultural University organised a one-day vaccination camp for animals in Tumukhong, Maphou Dam and Louphong areas on Saturday.
According to Department of Animal Sciences head and principal investigator Dr Th Ranadhir, the camp was organised under the 'Conservation of Mithun in Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland and Manipur' project, funded by NEC.
Later, an interaction programme for farmers was organised under the topic of 'Diseases of Mithun, Cattle and Buffaloes and its prevention and control', which was attended by Dr Th Ranadhir and Dr K Rashbehari as resource persons.
The resource persons explained about hemorrhagic septicemia, black quarter and foot and mouth disease, and further stressed the need for vaccinating the livestock as a preventive measure from these diseases.
As part of the camp, vitamin and mineral supplements for the animals were also distributed.
In all, 120 animals were vaccinated.
