DEO urges voters to exercise their franchise

Even as polling officials detailed for duty in Churachandpur and Pherzawl districts for the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly Election 2022 were dispersed on Sunday, District Election Officer/ DC Pawan Yadav has appealed to all eligible voters of the two districts to exercise their franchise and ensure free and fair election.
The DEO said that all preparations have been made to ensure smooth conduct of the election and appealed to all concerned to extend maximum cooperation in order to make the election a mega festival of democracy.
"Without leaving anything to chances, the district authority has been making maximum effort since the past few months for the success of this election.
However, the election will not be a success unless the people, particularly eligible voters, turn up to cast their votes", he said, while appealing to all eligible voters of the districts to come out in large number and cast their votes to decide their future.
Pawan Yadav added that a mechanism has been put in place to avoid unwanted incident, adding that security arrangements for all polling stations in the districts are in place and live webcasting will be done in all polling stations.
Six ACs under Churac han-dpur and Pherzawl districts will go to the polls on Monday.
Polling officials and security personnel detailed for duty in the 6 assembly constituencies were dispersed from Peace Ground here oh Sunday.
The two districts have 358 polling stations.
A total of 1432 polling personnel, 71 micro-observers and 39 sector officers were appointed for the smooth conduct of the election.
In all, 118 polling stations will be manned by women personnel.
These include 7 in Henglep, 82 in Churachandpur and 29 in Saikot ACs.
Polling station at B Vengnom (59/49) under Saikot AC will be manned by PwD personnel.
As a part of the first phase of polling, 2,11,605 voters in Churachandpur and Pherzawl districts (1,02,400 males, 1,09,201 females and 4 third genders) will seal the fate of 34 candidates on February 28.Voting hours will be from 7 AM till 4 PM .
