Bishnupur all set for polling today

Bishnupur, February 27 2022:
All polling personnel along with the EVMs and VVPATs to be used for polling were escorted in over 470 vehicles from the dispersal centre in Mini Secretariat Complex, Bishnupur to their respective polling stations in the six assembly constituencies of the district by armed security personnel on Sunday.
With the complete dispersal of polling and security personnel in the district, Bishnupur is now all set for the first phase of voting for the 12th Manipur Assembly Election, 2022.Altogether 1,85,223 electors in the district will cast their votes in 234 polling stations to decide the fate of 22 candidates in six seats in the district.
Moirang AC is in the lead with maximum voters at 39,876 electors while Kumbi has the least voters standing at 22,984.Seven polling stations in the district are classified as sensitive while 49 are marked as critical and vulnerable stations.
Meanwhile, in addition to the 12 polling stations designated as model polling stations, 50 will be managed exclusively by women including armed security personnel.
1170 polling personnel have been deployed for election duty in the district including 31 sector magistrates along with posting of 2700 armed and 1200 unarmed security personnel, while 324 vehicles have been requisitioned for election duty.
Mention may be made here that postal voting for police and civilians on election duty have been facilitated earlier apart from the Absentee Voters PwD and 80-plus Senior Citizens.
Actual polling in all polling stations will be held from 7 am till 4 pm after conducting mock poll of fifty votes by polling agents.
In addition to the entire district election official teams, five teams of election observers, each comprising two general observers, two expenditure observers and a police observer, have been stationed in the district to ensure smooth conduct of the whole election process.
Meanwhile, a team led by DEO Bishnupur L Bikram inspected various polling stations to ensure smooth conduct of the election, while SP Herojit Meitei accompanied by high level police personnel also checked the security arrangement in polling areas.
