Kakching, February 27 2022:
Tengnoupal assembly constituency independent candidate Tantanga Kohai Moshilpha and his supporters have strongly condemned media statement made by Maring Frontal Organisations about the election related violence/clash that took place on Friday at Kharou Khullen village.
Maring Frontal Organisation is the apex body of Maring Uparap Assembly (MUA), Maring Napuiya Yinglam (MNY) and Maring Students' Union (MSU) .
Addressing media persons on'Saturday at his Tuishimi village residence, Moshilpha said that the allegations levelled by Maring frontal organisations that the clash erupted after NPF workers were attacked by his workers was totally wrong and baseless.
"Being a candidate in Tengnoupal constituency for the Assembly election, it is my right to campaign and accordingly went for the same to Kharou Khullen on Friday morning after getting approval of the ECI and RO," he said.
"On the way to Kharou Khullen, some NPF workers disrupted my team twice but managed to reach the meeting venue.
The meeting started at around 11.30am but supporters of NPF candidate D Korungthang arrived at the meeting venue in ten vehicles and started pelting stones and using sling shots which led to clash between my workers and NPF candidate's supporters", he narrated.
While urging the Maring organisations to allow people to choose candidates of their choice as per democratic principle, Moshilpha said that he will file a complaint about the incident to ECI, CEO Manipur, RO Tengnoupal and other relevant authorities.
Meanwhile, the Naga People's Front (NPF) has categorically refuted the charges levelled by Tantanga Kohai Moshilpha and two of his supporters against the Front.
While clarifying that it has nothing to do with the incident of Kharou Khullen on February 25, a release issued by NPF 42 Tengnoupal Area Unit press secretary Larung Koin Dangsha contended that the scuffle broke out between volunteers of Maring Frontal Organisation and supporters of the independent candidate.
It maintained that NPF stands for peace and social harmony and appealed to all concerned for free, fair and peaceful election.
