Kangpokpi election team all set for first phase poll

Kangpokpi, February 27 2022:
All the polling and security personnel deployed for the 3 Assembly Constituencies (ACs) of Kangpokpi district for the first phase of the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly Elections, 2022 have been dispersed on Sunday.
Polling parties, micro observers, sector officers and security personnel in respect of the three assembly constituencies of the district were dispersed from Thomas Ground here.
A total of 1,00,351 (49,631 male and 50,720 female) voters of the district will decide the political fate of 17 candidates contesting in the three assembly constituencies on Monday.
Three candidates namely former Social Welfare minister Nemcha Kipgen (BJP), Ngamkhohen Kipgen (INC) and Soshim Gurung (JD-U) are contesting in Kangpokpi (Gen) AC.
Haokholet Kipgen (independent), Lamtinthang Haokip (INC), Ngamthang Ha-okip (BJP), L Johny Gangmei (JD-U), K Lhouvum (NPP) and Th Sanglou Maram (Independent) are in fray in Saitu (ST) AC while in Saikul (ST) AC, the candidates are Kenn Raikhan (Independent), Chungkhokai Doungel (Independent), Ch Ajang Khongsai (JD-U), Yamthong Haokip (BJP), Jamchinlen Lunkim (RPI), Kimneo Haokip Hangshing (KPA), Seikholal Haokip (NPP) and Lhingkim Haokip (INC).
Among the 17 candidates, eight candidates are first-timers.
The first-timers from Saikul AC are Kimneo Haokip, Lhingkim Haokip, Seikholal Haokip and Jamchinlen Lunkim while Ngamkhohen Kipgen is making the electoral debut in Kangpokpi AC.
In Saitu AC, the three first-timers are K Lhouvum, L Johny Gangmei and Th Sanglou Maram.
More than 1000 polling personnel and around 4000 security personnel were dispatched to the 166 polling stations including 19 Pink Polling Stations in the district.
Moreover, 41 companies of CAPF, SAP, SSB and ARP-SAP apart from two women police each in all the 19 pink polling stations and two unarmed district police personnel each in all the 166 polling stations are being (deployed for smooth conduct in the election in the district.
There are 56 polling stations in Saikul AC including three pink polling stations with a total of 28,825 voters while in Kangpokpi AC, there are 42 polling stations including 10 pink polling stations (the highest in the district) with a total of 27,545 voters.
In Saitu AC, there are 68 polling stations including six pink polling stations with a total of 43,981 voters including one tranisgender.
There are also 1,880 service voters compared to 1,019 in the 11th Manipur Legislative Assembly Election in 2017.Out of the 166 polling stations, only 25 polling stations have been identified as normal compared to 88 polling stations out of 156 in the previous election while 35 polling stations are identified as vulnerable and as many as 106 polling stations out of 166 are identified as critical this time.
There will be webcasting in 73 polling stations out of the 166 polling stations, which include 12 polling stations in 46-Saikul AC, 27 polling stations in 50-kangpokpi AC, and 34 polling stations in 51-Saitu AC while 43 micro-observers are appointed for the election.
There was a brief disruption to traffic flow in Kangpokpi district headquarter due to the movement of polling security personnels.
