31 new cases, 2 deaths reported

Imphal, February 27 2022:
Even as Manipur has been witnessing a dip in coronavirus cases for the past few days with the addition of 31 fresh cases in the last 24 hours, the number of fatalities continues to be a cause of concern as two more Covid deaths were reported in the last 24 hours.
The two deaths were reported from Imphal East and Bishnupur and only one of them had taken a full dose of COVID-19 vaccine.
With this figure, the death toll has now climbed to 2,111 with Imphal West reporting the maximum deaths at 702, followed by Imphal East (509), Bishnupur (205).Pherzawl has not reported any deaths due to the virus so far.
In terms of vaccination, the majority of the hill districts continue to perform very poorly with Kangpokpi just vaccinating 15.43 percent of its eligible population with double dose till yesterday.
Kakching is at the top of the chart as the district has fully vaccinated 65.01 percent of its eligible population.
The vaccination coverage (2nd dose) of other hill districts are Ukhrul (21 percent), Senapati (27 percent), Tamenglong (32 percent), Tengnoupal (35 percent), Kamjong (25 percent), Pherzawl (34 percent), Noney (32 percent), Chandel (57 percent) and Churachandpur (60 percent).
As the 31 new Covid cases were detected from among 1,122 samples tested in the last 24 hours, the positive rate thus registered is 2.8 percent and it is marginally lower than 3.4 percent updated yesterday by the COVID-19 Common Control Room.
Among the districts, Kamjong and Tengnoupal reported the highest positivity rate in the last 24 hours at 20 percent (1 out of 5 samples tested positive) and 16.7 percent (one out of six tested positive) respectively.
The 31 fresh cases were confirmed at JNIMS (3) and other testing centres (28) and are residents of Imphal East (7), Imphal West (14), Thoubal (1), BIshnupur (3), Kamjong (1), Senapati (1), Tengnoupal (1), Ukhrul (1), Chandel (1) and Churachandpur (1) .
With this figure, the number of active now stands at 339 .
Today, 50 persons were discharged from home isolation (30), RIMS (6), JNIMS (7) and CCCs (7) .
The recovery rate is 98.21 percent.
Yesterday, the State distributed 130 D-type and 60 B-type oxygen cylinders to different health care facilities and administered 6779 Covid vaccine doses.
As per the Government bulletin, at least 279 Covid beds are vacant at JNIMS (8837342527) and another 90 at RIMS (7005237591) .
