Imphal, February 27 2022:
STEP North East celebrated the graduation ceremony for its first STEP fellowship yesterday.
STEP fellowship was initiated during the COVID-19 pandemic to train undeserved girls with 21st century work skills and is a six month merit employable programme, equipping them with work skills, basic skills training, communication skills and introducing to them the practice of critical thinking, said a statement from STEP North-East.
The first batch of STEP fellowship began in September 2021, after three months of refining the programme, reaching out to well wishers and fundraising.
The programme was graced by Alek Muivah, Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal West and Rev.Asung Pharung as the presidium members.
Each graduate gave a speech thanking the fellowship for everything that they had learnt through the course.
They recounted the challenges and criticisms they received from peers and friends who were skeptical about the fellowship.
The testimonies of the graduates bore witness to all the skills that they were able to develop through the short period, added the statement.
