AMSU Imphal East demands arrest of rape accused

Imphal, February 27 2022:
AMSU Imphal East District committee has appealled the concerned department to arrest the alleged rape accused Thangjam Malemnganba of Tiger camp before March 10 .
This was stated by Lairenmayum Tina, Secretary Women Affair AMSU Imphal East in a press conference held at AMSU headquarter today afternoon and added that failure to make the arrest within the stipulated time will call for strong agitation against such crimes.
Speaking to the media persons, she urged the Government to ensure that such crime against women and children are prevented in future and established a Fast Track Court to hear such cases and make new laws for giving capital punishment to culprits involved in such heinous crimes.
She alleged that a class XII students was rape by alleged accused Thangjam Malemnganba (22) s/o Kameshor of Tiger camp on April 4 last year but the police is yet to make any arrest.
In regards to the incident, the family members of the victim had lodged a complaint at Women Police Imphal East on November 24, but the police is yet to make any arrest till now.
