Awangbow chairs review meeting of Tamenglong district

Tamenglong, July 14 2022:
Water Resources, and Relief & Disaster Management minister Awangbow Newmai, on Thursday chaired a meeting of Tamenglong district level officers at the conference hall of old DC complex, here in the presence of Tamenglong MLA Janghemlung Panmei, ADC caretaker chairman Namsinrei Panmei and DC Pawan Yadav.
Delivering the key-note address, MLA Janghemlung urged the DLOs to present their views and suggestions openly so as to accelerate development of Tamenglong district.
On the other-hand, minister Awangbow stated that to develop and bring changes departments concerned need to keep updating on the various schemes and works undertaken currently with the deputy commissioner of Tamenglong so that the tag of most backward district is erased while DC Pawan Yadav briefed the gathering on the various achievements of the schemes and works undertaken under PMGSY, DRDA and NREGA.
He also highlighted the lack of funds in PMAY and NREGA with regard to the state account funds.
Road and communication being the lifeline of the district, minister Awangbow and MLA of Tamenglong had a thorough discussion with the department concerned and also instructed the officials in attendance to look into this matter seriously.
Minister Awangbow also directed the education department to draw up some plans and projects and present it to the deputy commis sioner anything related with the construction of schools, lack of teachers and funds for the schools development, so that no child is left behind from getting basic education.
Shortage of staff, vehicles and frequent transfers and postings in police, medical and education department were the main discussion of the day's review meeting.
Altogether 34 departments took part in the developmental review meeting and present their views openly and committed to work for the development of Tamenglong district.
Minister Awangbow also instructed the DC to list out the department absent in the review meeting and to report it to him as to why they did not turned up.
Later, the minister visited the landslide site at Makhuam (Marangching) and met the officials of the rescue team and villagers.
He also extended monetary assistance to the relief committee.
