RNCM forms committee for land, boundaries

Imphal, July 14 2022:
Rongmei Naga Council Manipur (RNCM), the apex social organisation of Rongmei people in Manipur, during a consultative meeting held at Keishamthong Rongmei (Kabui) village, on July 11 reportedly took several important decisions in the larger interest of Rongmei people.
Several leaders, advisors and well-wishers of the Rongmei people attended the meeting wherein a discussion with Federation of Haomee (FoH) was also held.
FOH president Sapamcha Jadumani and general secretary Yazing Vicisy briefed the gathering about the function and future plans of the federation.
Among others, the meeting took a resolution that a body under the name of Committee on Rongmei Land and Boundaries was formed with RNCM vice president Athan Rwangmei and general secretary Khonthuingam Panmei as its chairman and secretary respectively.
The house empowered the Committee to take up matters related to the land and boundaries.
Every head of Rongmei villages within Manipur are therefore informed to bring to the notice of RNCM through the Committee every case related to land and boundaries.
The meeting also resolved that a common constitution of all Rongmei people would be adopted to streamline the functioning of the organisations representing them as well as not to leave anyone behind even if they are staying abroad or any place of the country.
The meeting authorised RNCM's finance committee, formed on April 7, 2022 during the 6th executive meeting of RNCM held in Senapati to take up steps for establishing a corpus fund for Rongmei people, so that every matter related to Rongmei people might be dealt with more effectively.
RNCM former president Kenan Kahmei and Rongmei Customary Court secretary N Gonmei have been appointed to the posts of chairman and secretary respectively to head the 15-member finance committee.
The meeting also resolved that the 92nd Martyr Day of Haipou Jadonang will be organised in a grand manner at Ntayphay Luangrian, Rongmei hill range near the Imphal valley on August 29 for which RNCM has been authorised to identify a suitable venue.
