Imphal, July 14 2022:
State Platform of Disabled People's Organisation (SPDPO) has appealed to the chief medical officers concerned to distribute Unique Disabilities ID (UDID) Card in time.
In a statement signed by its president Md Yunush Khan, SPDPO said that the government policy of issuing UDID is an important step towards ensuring transparency and welfare of the disabled people and the organisation has been distributing UDIDs to deserving beneficiaries by organising assessment camps in association with chief medical officers and social welfare officers of different districts.
Unfortunately, there has been delay in issuing the UDID cards, which will affect the differently abled people in getting their benefits.
In some districts, officials are reportedly calling the differently abled people repeatedly without issuing their UDID cards while there are also reports of some staff disrespecting them, which is unfortunate, the statement said.
It then appealed to the government to look into the matter and take up necessary measures to ensure early issuance of UDID cards to the differently abled people.
