Fortnight-long MEDP concludes

A 15-day Micro Enterprise Development Programme (MEDP) for SHGs on making varieties of sweets and snacks organised under the aegis of NABARD culminated at the training hall of People s Development Society (PDS), New Checkon here on Thursday.
Speaking during the closing function, NABARD Imphal East and Ukhrul District DDM I Premjoy informed that the trainees have been taught well on how to make different sweets and snacks properly and expressed belief that they will now be able to earn their livelihood by taking up these activities on commercial scale.
He then said that similar refresher courses, capacity-building and training programmes oriented towards providing sources of livelihood, will continue to be organised in the future.
In all, 32 trainees participated in the programme, which was also attended by food technicians and entrepreneur management experts of FSSAI.
Several bank officials also attended the programme and informed the trainees how they could avail loans from the banks for setting up their businesses.
The valedictory function was attended by NABARD, Manipur Regional Office general manager Niangkhanvung Guite.
PDS secretary Th Biramangoi and Mani pur Industries Development Council chairman P Loken as the presidium members.
