Imphal, October 09 2015 :
Manipur JD (U) has said on Friday 'Naga integration' should be confined to the State of Nagaland only and added that the party condemns the NSCN (IM) for indulging in 'large scale extortion and persecution of people' .
Addressing the media here, State JD (U) secretary general Lien Gangte felt the urgency of tackling the unlawful activities of NSCN (IM) by the Government.
He said the question regarding presence of NSCN (IM) camps in Manipur has to be raised before the Chief Minister and Deputy CM.
The law enforcement agencies and Home Department should corroborate it and look into the matter, he demanded.
"I believe there will be confusion if the report on recruitment of some 1000 fresh cadres by NSCN (IM) turns out to be true," Lien Gangte said.
Gangte, however, welcomed the Naga peace accord saying all factions of the Naga underground group need reunification to smooth the progress of Naga integration.
But in the peace process, there will be no any harm to Manipur's territorial integrity, the JD (U) secretary general said.
"We cannot accept if Naga peace threatens interests of other communities" .
The Naga peace accord signed between the Government of India and NSCN (IM) on August 3 this year should not be allowed to create problem for any of Nagaland's community, Gangte insisted.
He plainly stated that the Naga integration should be confined to the State of Nagaland only and quoted the recent statement of NSCN (IM) general secretary Th Muivah that the interest of the neighbouring States should be respected to live in peace and harmony together.
