Imphal, September 19 2026:
AMUCO and four other organisations namely; AMAWOVA, PLMPAM, COHR and MSF have called upon all the people to launch a collective mass movement against the Government of India's proxy war.
As a part of their sustained protest, the five organisations staged a protest demonstration at Kongba Kshetri Leikai, Imphal East today.
The protest demonstration demanded the State Government to prevail over the Government of India to update the NRC with 1951 as the base year and to annul SIR 2026 .
It also demanded resettlement of IDPs at the earliest, complete repeal of AFSPA 1958 from all over Manipur and immediate redressal of the woes of people.
Speaking to media persons, AMUCO president Sorokhaibam Sanjoy who is also the convenor of the five organisations alleged that the Government of India has been subjecting the people of Manipur to a systematic repression.
He further alleged that the Government of India has been waging a proxy war in Manipur since May 3, 2023, thereby creating animosity and conflicts among different communities.
All sections of people need to see through the Government of India's diabolical plan to ignite conflicts and violence among the communities with the ultimate objective of fragmenting Manipur.
All sections of people need to join hands and struggle collectively to defeat this sinister plan of the Government of India, Sanjoy said.
Saying that even illegal immigrants have been elected to the Manipur Legislative Assembly, he underscored the urgent need to identify all illegal immigrants living in Manipur with 1951 as the base year.
