Imphal, November 02 2026:
The Manipur Naga Youth Organisation (MNYO) has refuted allegations made by the Committee on Tribal Unity (CoTU) concerning the death of two Kuki youths from Taphou Kuki village, accusing the organisation of politicising the incident along communal lines without ascertaining the facts.
MNYO, in a press note, said that it is yet to be established whether the two Kuki men were killed in an encounter or under the circumstances alleged.
The Organisation also defended Deputy Chief Minister Losii Dikho against demands by CoTU to remove him from his position.
Naga civil society organisations have been seeking the resignation of Deputy Chief Minister Nemcha Kipgen over her alleged direct links with Kuki National Front (P) chairman Semtinthang Kipgen, her husband, it said.
MNYO alleged that CoTU was attempting to level similar charges against Dikho despite his contributions to peace initiatives, reconciliation efforts and governance in the State.
Highlighting Dikho's role in peacebuilding, the Organisation stated that he visited Motbung on February 7, 2026, as part of a peace outreach programme and visited Churachandpur several times in connection with the administration's peace and reconciliation efforts.
It also referred to his participation in the closing ceremony of the 78th Zomi Namni Day Tournament, describing it as the first official visit by a Deputy Chief Minister to Churachandpur.
MNYO further credited Dikho with playing a prominent role in the safe release of 14 Kuki detainees on June 9, 2026, and in sustaining peace in Senapati district.
The Organisation termed the comparison between Dikho and Nemcha Kipgen inappropriate and alleged that attempts were being made to tarnish the image of the Dikho and undermine peace and reconciliation efforts.
MNYO also condemned a social media statement made by MLA Kimneo Hangsing, wife of Kuki Revolutionary Army (KRA) chairman David Hangsing, who also holds a Constitutional authority post.
The Organisation alleged that the statement, made through an Ashoka-inscribed letterhead, derogatorily referred to the Naga community as "Kacha Nagas" .
MNYO stated that the alleged remark was contrary to the provisions of the Scheduled Tribes (Order) (Amendment) Act, 2011 under Part X relating to Manipur.
It further stated that the alleged remark could attract prosecution under Section 356 of the BNS .
