CADA holds discussion programme

Continuing its anti-alcohol campaign, Coalition Against Drugs and Alcohol (CADA) in collaboration with Nongchup Imphal Meira Paibi Apunba Lup (NIMPAL) and Nupi Khunai, Lamsang organised a discussion programme on the ill effects of alcohol and other substance abuse at Lamsang Bazar today.
The meeting which discussed various ways to combat the menace caused by drugs and alcohol was attended by Advocate Y Ratankumar, president, CADA, Laishram Gyaneshori, president, NIMPAL, Ksh Rashi, president, Nupi Khunai, Lamsang, Ningthoujam Doren, vice president, CADA, Dipanjit Ningthoujam, secretary general, CADA, K Thambalsana, secretary, Nupi Khunai, Lamsang, Ahanthem Shilla, former Councillor, N Memcha, former Councillor, S Shanti, secretary, NIMPAL and Sinam Nongleima, social worker as the chief guest, president, guest of honour and resource persons.
Speaking at the meeting, N Doren said that instead of playing an important role in building a healthy society, issuing liquor licences by the State Government as a means to generate income is unfortunate.
Though the State Government has declared Manipur as "Dry State" under the Manipur Liqour Prohibition Act 1991, instances of crime resulting from drugs and alcohol abuse are being reported everyday, stated resource person Dipanjit Ningthoujam.
He further urged the people to jointly fight drugs and alcohol.
The discussion meeting was also attended by staff members of Lamsang excise station.
