The Joint Students' Coordinating Committee (JSCC) has locked administrative offices as well as offices of the Principals of four schools for their failure to take only 30 per cent of the normal monthly fees for the months of July and August this year during which most of the schools remained shut on account of the sustained mass movement for enforcement of Inner Line Permit System or a similar mechanism.
The schools whose administrative and Principals' have been locked are Heritage Convent School, Uripok; North Point School, Koirengei; Shishu Nistha Niketan, Kwakeithel Mayai Koibi and RK Sanatombi Devi Vidyalaya.
Speaking to media persons this afternoon at MSF's Keishampat office, JSCC convenor Jayenta Kumar Khuman said that they had already appealed to all the schools to take only 30 percent of the normal monthly fees for the months of July and August as no classes were held during these months.
But the JSCC received a number of complaints from parents that some of the schools have not been giving any concession.
This constrained the committee to lock the administrative and Principals' offices of the four schools.
Additional amount already collected in the form of monthly fees should be reimbursed to students at the earliest, Jayenta Kumar said.
The proposal of some schools to waive off monthly fee for the month of January next year is not acceptable.
The JSCC may be compelled to shut schools completely if its appeal to waive off certain percentage of monthly fees goes unheeded, he cautioned.
He then appealed to all school van service operators to take only 50 per cent of the monthly fare for the current month.
