Imphal, October 09 2015 :
The BJP Manipur Pradesh has resolved to remind the State Government of its responsibility to resolve the issues relating to protection of the people of Manipur and also to participate in the peace-process with a greater sense of urgency and seriousness.
A meeting of the State BJP executive committee was held today at Hotel Imphal Classic with BJP Manipur Pradesh president Th Chaoba as president and BJP National General Secretary (Coordination/North East) Ram Madhav as chief guest.
The Congress Party's leadership and Government are in denial mode despite the persisting turmoil in the State after the passing of "The Manipur Peoples Protection Bill 2015" and two other Bills by the Manipur Legislative Assembly, according to the proceedings of the meeting.
Decrying that they (Congress Government) did not pay heed to the advice of BJP Manipur Pradesh to resolve the issue of protection of the people of Manipur in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution of India, the executive committee lamented that until now the State Government has not made any effort to get the issue resolved in consultation with the Government of India.
The Congress party/Government in Manipur has not responded to the dialogue initiatives taken by the Government of India even after the signing of the 'Peace Framework Accord' with the NSCN (IM).
The Government of India has amply clarified that the sanctity of Manipur State's territorial position and interests would be respected.
It is suspected that the Congress party and their leadership are playing a blame game against the BJP Government with a motive to gain political mileage, read the meeting proceedings.
It was recorded that there was a general consensus among the members about the ever-growing sufferings and agony of the people, specially the poor and the weaker sections of the society as a result of rampant corruption and poor governance during the 13 years rule by the Congress party in Manipur.
Since April 2010, several reports have been published in national and local newspapers and complaints filed with the Government of India against the gross scandals committed by the Loktak Development Authority (LDA), Manipur mainly the magnitude of fraudulent award "Removal of Phumdi" (bio mass) at the cost of Rs.3 crore to Hyderabad-based Progressive Construction Ltd (2008) on trial basis, and Rs.224 crore awarded to "K-Pro Infra Works Private Ltd" a Delhi based established during June 2009 to clean up the bio-mass and had a paid-up share capital of just Rs.10 lakh only, according to the proceedings of the executive committee meeting.
The registered office of the K-Pro Works in Delhi was found to be a residential fiat where no one lives.
The Government of India has been providing huge funds under the Accelerated Irrigation Benefit Programme (AIBP) etc.
Some of the centrally funded major projects like the Thoubal Multipurpose Project and the Khuga Multipurpose Project, which cost the government thousands of crores of rupee, have either been badly implemented or failed to generate irrigation.
In regard to AIBP, the Congress Government in Manipur has misappropriated huge funds sanctioned by the Government of India during the period from 1999 to 2010, for various schemes in Imphal East District and Imphal West District.
The Director, CBI, has already been requested for investigation into the irrigation scandals in Manipur.
The committee resolved to launch a "Clean Nambul and Save Loktak Lake" campaign in November, 2015 .
