Imphal, September 19 2026: A mass convention held today at Khwai Brahmapur, Uripok Chakrikom explored possible political solutions to the protracted Manipur crisis.

Khongnangthaba University VC Prof N Joykumar, MHRC former Chairman Khaidem Mani, Meitei/Meetei Tribe Union secretary (administration) Mutum Churamani, AITUC Mani-pur president S Yaima, AITUC Manipur general secretary L Sotinkumar, All Manipur Agriculture Workers Union president S Nillakamal and AITUC wor-king president Kh Shamu- ngou attended the convention as presidium members.

The convention was organised by the All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC), Manipur State Committee.

Convention explores solution to Manipur crisis

L Sotinkumar said that Manipur has been facing an unprecedented crisis after Kuki narco-terrorists launched a proxy war on May 3, 2023 .

He said that the convention was an attempt to articulate a collective response to the prolonged crisis and its impacts on the masses, particularly daily wage earners.

He said that the convention would also deliberate on the right to free movement, food and social security, Government welfare and rural employment schemes, farmers' livelihood and a possible political solution to the crisis.

Commemorating the struggles, sacrifices and the indomitable spirit of Lamyanba Hijam Irabot, AITUC Manipur has been observing the month of September as "Struggle Month" every year, Sotinkumar said.

This year, AITUC has been carrying out a mass campaign for the rights of farmers, employees and the working class, he added.
